History of the Firm has been traced back since the year 1856

History of the Firm has been traced back since the year 1856 when Mr.A.M Ritchie, a British personnel practised in his own name, and later joined by Mr. John Shaw in the year 1860 the Firm was known as Messrs Ritchie & Shaw. The Firm was further devolved with individual Mr. Tasker who continued the practise as a sole partner until Mr. Charles William Wilson joined as a partner in the name of Messrs Tasker & Wilson. After the retirement of Mr. Tasker, Mr. Wilson carried on the practise in his own name.

In the year 1886, Mr. King joined Mr. Wilson and become the partner. The Firm was addressed as “Wilson & King”. Later, in the year 1890, Mr. P.W. Partridge joined the Firm as an assistant.

The Day We Started

The firm as it stands now was founded by Sir Henry C. King & P.W. Partridge in 1904.

The Bangalore and Hyderabad Offices, and the Associate Office in Chennai, constituting a single firm until a few years ago, including a predecessor in practice are more than a hundred years old and are easily the largest firm of Attorneys in the South of India and one of the largest in the whole of India. The last English Partners Mr. T. Jeffares and Mr. Gordon Fredirich Muirhead retired in 1971 from the Chennai and Bangalore offices respectively. The Firm works closely with other reputed law firms in Mumbai, Kolkata, New Delhi and Kochi.

Bangalore office

The Bangalore office was established in 1953.

The Bangalore office was established in 1953 and has since grown into a large office with a substantial practice along with the industrial and business growth of Bangalore and the surrounding areas.

Several renowned, eminent and prominent lawyers were partners of King & Partridge, including C.Doraswamy, D.K Basu, B.P Ray, P.Sengupta, J.L Armstrong, P.K. Roy Chowdhury, T.Subba Rao, M.Uttama Reddy, S.C Ghosh, and E.R.C Dravidar.
